The Last Best Hope

While Obama talks of our past sins Reagan spoke of our greatness and how that greatness if allowed to flourish would be a shining city upon a hill. Obama seeks to dim that light and we are resisting. This from Voice Of Conservative America

When abusive monarchs repressed the masses, Americans resisted and overthrew them. When misguided policies led to the unjust oppression of fellow citizens, Americans rebelled and overturned them. When millions of impoverished and destitute wretches sought a new beginning, Americans threw open the door and welcomed them. When imperial dictators were on the march, Americans surrendered their lives to stop them. When communist thugs threatened world peace, Americans bled to defeat them. When an entire continent was overwhelmed with famine and hunger, Americans gave of themselves to sustain it. When terrorist madmen killed the innocent and subjugated millions, Americans led the fight to topple them.
This is the legacy that generations of Americans have left. If President Obama seeks stronger relations with the world community, perhaps he should begin by reminding them of these very truths, rather than condemning his own countrymen on foreign shores.

A prayer of the left

Its a statement of faith and a prayer, and it is funny because it’s true.

I believe in Teh One. I believe in the Government (PBUI). I believe in the Constitution (imperfect document that it is) and the Preamble that proceeds it.

I believe that, “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” means that the government provides me with a job, pays my mortgage, provides me with life-long, free health care and that Teh One, and his minions will protect me from any speech that harshes my mellow.

I believe that unelected judges, of the proper political persuasion, should make laws that strive to perfect our Constitution (imperfect document that it is) by citing foreign law and by consulting the labor unions, the ACLU and NAMBLA.

I believe in the media as professors of the collective truth, the divine right of family Congressional succession and the power of the unelected, non-Senate approved czars.

I believe that all human activity should be controlled and regulated by the FDA, the EPA, OSHA and whatever federal entity has produced a study on it.

I believe that celebrities, no matter how uneducated, drug-addled and banal, are smarter and prettier than I am. I believe a job in Hollywood endows them with acute political perception and that they should guide my decisions.

For success in all of these things, we pray to Teh One and his minions in federally subsidized cubicles, Amen.

Kicking Talibut

The bad guys hiked up a mountain to harass a US position in Afghanistan only to find American soldiers waiting to end the war for them.

Fight by fight, the infantryman’s war in Afghanistan is often waged on the Taliban’s terms. Insurgents ambush convoys and patrols from high ridges or long ranges and slip away as the Americans, weighed down by equipment, return fire and call for air and artillery support. Last week a patrol from the First Infantry Division reversed the routine

The New York Time report does a good job on the story but for one small point…

But as accounts of the fight have spread, the ambush, on Good Friday, has become an emotional rallying point for soldiers in Kunar Province, who have seen it as a both a validation of their equipment and training and a welcome bit of score-settling in an area that in recent years has claimed more American lives than any other.

I would differ on this point; from what I’ve seen and read when we meet the Taliban they are the ones who die. I believe it goes like this, if they get anyone they get one or two sometimes 5 or 6 with a lucky bomb hit, we get 10 15 20 every time we meet them. The writer may be talking about within the coalition but it didn’t read that way to me.

 

And just for fun here is a reminder of another recent victory in the global war on terror.

After work tea

I was not feeling well, A flu was going around at work and yesterday was my turn, so I did not stay long. I took pictures of as many signs as I could listened to a few speeches then went home to get some rest.

I would say about 200 people were there, this was the last event in a daylong protest that included a march to the courthouse at noon with about 150-200 participants I’m told.

 

did I mention it was a beautiful day?

Hmm I’m starting to notice a trend, lots of flags!

Update: The Everett Herald had front page coverage.

"We'd like to let her (U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell) know our feelings about the stimulus package and the (national) debt," Elizabeth Scott told the person on the other end.
Then she turned the phone around so the throng in front of her could unleash a deafening chorus of boos.

Why We Must Vote

This statement came from a member of the US congress. Part of a three person delegation that went to Cuba and visited dictator Fidel Castro

“It was almost like listening to an old friend,” said Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Il.), adding that he found Castro’s home to be modest and Castro’s wife to be particularly hospitable.
“In my household I told Castro he is known as the ultimate survivor,” Rush said

The delegation then got a taste of good old fashion communist propaganda when Castro made the claim…

Castro said that the delegation had expressed to him that a segment of American society “continues to be racist,” and is at least partly to blame for the travel restrictions.

Or is this the propaganda?

“That did not happen,” Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.), told reporters.

You never really know with today’s democrats,

We must get out the vote we must counter this tide of voters who have been spoon feed this and then taught that all contrary opinion is racism. We Must Vote.

They only hate

This is a story of what one victim of Hamas’ rocket attacks face when he came to the US to tell of his ordeal.

I HAD COME to tell the human side of the daily reality of rockets, but these Hamas supporters only laughed at raw footage of kindergarten children running for shelter as a Kassam rocket was fired at them, or of my personal stories of having 15 seconds to run for my life before a rocket landed. If it wasn't before, it was clear to me then that these people were not here to learn about reality, gain understanding of the trauma and suffering, or even to object to my presentation. These people were there for the sole reason that it was an event regarding Israel, to whose very existence they objected. How was I to promote human understanding if the unruly crowd didn't even recognize my right as a Jew to live in Israel?

Anti-Israel protest; week 14

It was a beautiful day, the sun was out, the temperature was a mild 57 degrees, and the people were friendly.

Then the crowd arrives

Mostly communist. Really, only one Palestinian the rest were commies.

It turns out that the commies had their own little march planned, an anti-bailout march.

with speakers and cameras and everything

About 20 people for this march about 10 for the anti-Israel protest, with people from both groups mixing together throughout the day.

And like most days we had our unrelated people doing unrelated things,

Fund raising

 

Walking

and playing

So I’ll post a few random shots and call it a day, not worth a movie this week.
